OneChild is pleased to announce and extend congratulations to our Founder, Cheryl Perera, for her appointment to the Order of Ontario, the Canadian Province of Ontario’s highest civilian honour. 

In March 2020, Cheryl was invested by Her Honour Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, at a special ceremony at Queen’s Park. A renowned international speaker and children’s rights activist, Cheryl received this great honour for her 18 year-long crusade against the sexual exploitation of children that she started as a teenager.

The Order of Ontario is awarded to a collective of Ontario’s finest citizens who have left a lasting legacy on the province, Canada, and beyond.  Cheryl joins other distinguished individuals such as Canada’s first female astronaut Roberta Bondar and first Black MP Jean Augustine.
