Bio

Since the age of 16, Cheryl has prevented and protected countless numbers of vulnerable children from sexual exploitation and sex trafficking. From approaching Sri Lankan police with a bold idea of serving as the decoy in a high-risk STING operation to catch a child sex perpetrator at just 17; to building a global movement of children and youth dedicated to ending the sexual exploitation of children, she continues to breath her mission and has impacted the lives of young and old, alike. Today, she continues to share her powerful story and motivate others to become agents of positive social change. As an internationally-acclaimed speaker, she will inspire your group to hone in on their leadership potential and make a difference.”

Testimonials
Don French, Rotarian

“Cheryl your presentation was outstanding! I have received several e-mails already, commenting favourably on your talk and what you are doing to work on this tragic global problem. People were awestruck with the power of your presentation.”

Don French, Rotarian, Rotary Club of Toronto, Canada

Qaiser Ahmad, Student

“A staff member who has been with our school for over 20 years informed me just now, that during the past 20 years, this is the first time that a speaker has ever received a STANDING OVATION.”

Qaiser Ahmad, Student Support, North Albion Collegiate Institute, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

“Several weeks ago we hosted a presentation by Cheryl Perera of OneChild Canada. The material is challenging and the tears in the library were very real, but this issue is an important one. Moreover, having a young woman who embodies the phrase ‘be the change’ stand before a group of young people and explain how she went from student to activist is incredibly powerful. I urge you to invite Cheryl and her OneChild presentation to your school.”

Kate Kostandoff, Educator, Bur Oak Secondary School, Markham, Ontario, Canada

Ayaz Kurji

“We were so thankful for your attendance at our inaugural conference and were truly moved by your words during your speech. From the enormously positive feedback we received from our delegates, we weren't the only ones! Your message is one so important, and yet one so seldom heard being discussed among the student body, that we feel it crucial to allow it the chance to be heeded once again.”

Ayaz Kurji, student, Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada

Whitney Hickman, Speaker Coordinator,

“Cheryl met the educational goals of the keynote event and helped us further educate, motivate and inspire hundreds of scholars by sharing her message. As a young, dynamic, international speaker, Ms. Perera would be an inspiration to a variety of audiences sharing her first-hand experiences and lessons learned starting from a simple need for more information to building an organization that works to educate and act against the global sex trade of children.”

Whitney Hickman, Speaker Coordinator, Congressional Youth Leadership Council, Washington, D.C.,USA
Shanaya Sarin, High School Student

“Cheryl Perera actually came to my school during an event called Think Fast and gave a speech that absolutely moved me to tears. It was BEYOND effective. Every person in that room was harnessed by her words of injustice, power, and abuse; all with an underlying message of a possibility of hope, freedom and healing. Her speech and the international sex trade was the talk of the halls for the next few days, and even people who hadn’t attended Think Fast had heard of her and OneChild’s message.”–

Shanaya Sarin, High School Student
Zinnia Al-Najjar, Student

“I also wanted to thank Cheryl because ever since her speech a year ago, my life has completely changed. This foundation is truly something spectacular and something that should get more recognition across the globe.”-

Zinnia Al-Najjar, Student, St. Mildred’s Lightbourn School, Oakville, Ontario, Canada

Peter Dudding, Chief Executive Director

“I have attended a number of events where Cheryl was featured as a speaker. It is astounding that she has achieved so much at such a young age. Attendees at all events were captivated and many approached her afterwards, wanting to hear more about her experiences. A gifted speaker, Cheryl has a uniquely energetic speaking style that mesmerizes audiences with her message of youth leadership and stimulates young people to make a positive difference in the world. I can recommend her with great confidence.”-

Peter Dudding, Chief Executive Director, Child Welfare League of Canada
Sandra Soave – Chaplain

“I just wanted to say what kind of an inspiration Cheryl was for our girls! So many of them left the presentation - and are still talking about it - in the halls, in the cafeteria! What an amazing presenter she is - very engaging. I can't believe how she captivated absolutely every student in our gym (and that is very hard to do). When I looked out into the crowd at the beginning, middle and end of the assembly - every student had eyes glued to Cheryl and the presentation.”
